Michael I. Sobel, D.O. is board certified in both reproductive endocrinology/infertility and obstetrics/gynecology.
He joined Abington Reproductive Medicine after 12 years of serving as the clinical director for the Reproductive Science Institute in Wayne, Pennsylvania, bringing extensive experience in all aspects of reproductive medicine and the latest fertility procedures. Dr. Sobel received his undergraduate degree in chemistry from Franklin Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and completed medical school to receive his doctor of osteopathy at the University of Medicine and Biosciences in Kansas City, Missouri. He returned to Philadelphia for post-graduate medical training, and completed his residency in obstetrics & gynecology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He went on to complete a clinical and research fellowship in reproductive endocrinology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Following his fellowship, he remained at Jefferson Medical College on the full-time faculty as Assistant Professor from 1992-1997.
Dr. Sobel has other clinical interests. He has been recognized as Distinguished Fellow by the American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He has served as ad hoc reviewer for the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology. His commitment to resident physician education has remained throughout his career as he currently serves as chair of the Postgraduate Education and Selection Committee (REI) for the ACOOG. He also is active in a variety of international, national, and local medical societies. He is married and is the father of three children. His hobbies include swimming, biking, skiing, reading history, and gardening.
