National Doctor's Day - March 30th

Abington Reproductive Medicine is proud to celebrate National Doctor's Day on March 30th!
In anticipation of the day, we have featured Dr. Schinfeld & Dr. Nichols--we hope you enjoy learning a little more about the lighter side of our medical team.  (Please note each of their medical profiles and backgrounds can be found on the previous page.)

Dr. Jay Schinfeld:
Why did you become a doctor? My dad was an OB/GYN and this is the only thing I ever wanted to be.

What's on your bucket list? More acting, taking some tap dance classes and waiting for grandchildren!

Who inspires you? My patients- their perseverance, faith and sharing.

Who's on your Ipod? I love every kind of music really, but right now I love listening to broadway musical soundtracks.

What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done? I fell in love with a total stranger during my second year in college and told my friend I would marry her- 4 years later I did. (Billy crystal who shares my exact birth date in New York also had the same exact experience.)

If you could have lunch with one person (dead or alive) who would it be and why? Ben Franklin- I'm sure he was an alien, but what a mind.

What are your hobbies? Acting, dancing, running- but no more triathlons!

What absolutely delights you? Coming to work every day, and any time spent with my family and friends.

What bring you the most peace? Running.

What is your favorite holiday and why? Thanksgiving- I do all the cooking and get several friends and family members together every year.

What about you would most surprise people? My age.

Can you give a pearl of wisdom? Love what you do, as you will do it forever.

What about ARM makes you most proud? I am the founder of this practice, and I meet people all over the area who have had babies from our care. After 27 years here, I cannot think of anything else I would rather be doing professionally or personally.

Dr. Jennifer Nichols:

Why did you become a doctor? At age 10 I knew I wanted to become a doctor to help people and that goal never faded.

Who inspires you? All of the women in my life who constantly amaze me by being able to juggle everything including family, work and friends--they not only keep their sanity, but they do it with grace.

What's on your bucket list? A trip to Greece!

What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done? Bungee jumping and white water rafting class 5+ rapids.

Who's on your Ipod? OAR.

If you could have lunch with one person (dead or alive) who would it be and why?
My grandfather since he passed away before I was born and I have heard amazing things about him and his love for life.

What are your hobbies? Running, Soccer & Scrapbooking (or just being creative).

What absolutely delights you? 2 things…

1)Doing a pregnancy ultrasound and hearing the heartbeat for the first time for a couple who has struggled to conceive.
2)Watching my Michigan State Spartans play in either football or basketball.

What bring you the most peace? Sitting in front of a fireplace with a good movie on a snowy cold day.

What is your favorite holiday and why? Thanksgiving – just a nice chance to get together with family, eat great food and RELAX.

What about you would most surprise people? I was born at 30 weeks gestation with less than a 50% chance of living at that time.

Can you give a pearl of wisdom? Being patient will usually pay off (easier said than done) & enjoy life along the way.

What about ARM makes you most proud? The heartfelt care and personal attention we try to give each and every patient.
